§ 38. Mr. Alan Howarthasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the latest estimate he has of the financial benefit to the arts from covenanted donations.
§ Mr. MooreNo separate information is available for the arts, but in the year to 30 September 1985 tax repayments to all charities in respect of deeds of covenant totalled £130 million. The arts will also benefit from the proposals my right hon. Friend the Chancellor announced in the Budget for further tax relief for charitable giving.
