HC Deb 24 March 1986 vol 94 cc344-5W
14. Dr. Marek

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what representations he has received about the performance of British Rail in Wales.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

My right hon. Friend has received 20 such representations in the last year, most of them concerning services in north Wales.

15. Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many people were unemployed for more than one year in (a) Clwyd and (b) Wales in (i) March 1979 and (ii) 1986 at the latest available date.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

In January 1986, the number of claimants unemployed for more than a year in Wales and Clwyd were 78,014 and 10,128, respectively. Figures available for 1979 cannot properly be compared with these since they relate to numbers registered, but were 22,844 for Wales and 4,117 for Clwyd.
