HC Deb 24 March 1986 vol 94 c366W
Mr. Bell

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when he will set the date for 1986 elections for the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Mr. Scott

The Prime Minister has offered to talk to the Northern Ireland political parties, among other matters, about the future of the Assembly. The desirability of new elections must be in doubt if the Assembly's suspension of its statutory duties continues.
