HC Deb 24 March 1986 vol 94 c387W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Minister for the Arts what is the policy in respect of the Arts Council members receiving payments or fees for artistic work commissioned or organised by the Arts Council.

Mr. Luce

The policy is contained in the Arts Council's terms of appointment for advisory panels and committee members, and is as followsMembers of the Council's advisory panels, committees and sub-committees are ineligible to receive awards and bursaries direct from the Council even if such awards are recommended by a panel, committee or sub-committee other than the one to which the member belongs. However, members are permitted to accept payments offered by third parties from funds made available by the Council. From time to time advisers, including panel and committee members, may be asked to carry out specific tasks for the Council which panel and committee members would not be expected to do within the terms of their appointment as advisers or committee members. In such cases fees may be paid as appropriate.
