HC Deb 19 March 1986 vol 94 c208W
Mr. Warren

asked the Secretary of State for Defence when the existing United Kingdom-United States memorandum of understanding on military sales expires; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Norman Lamont

The 1975 United States-United Kingdom defence procurement memorandum of under-standing, which had, originally, a 10-year life, was extended for a further year until 1 January 1986.

A new co-operation MOU, with similar terms to the earlier one, was signed in December 1985 and will remain valid until 1 January 1995.

The new MOU is being printed and a copy will be placed in the Library of the House as soon as possible.
