HC Deb 18 March 1986 vol 94 c109W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received about the effect of Her Majesty's Government's higher education policy on the morale of university staff and the quality of education.

Mr. Walden

Since May 1985 my right hon. Friend has received more than 1,900 representations about higher education policies generally and over 2,500 others specifically about the pay of university staff. Most have argued for additional funding for higher education so as to maintain and improve the quality of higher education, access to it, or the pay and morale of staff working in higher education.
