HC Deb 17 March 1986 vol 94 c17W
11. Mr. Moynihan

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what new information he has as to the effectiveness of the Greater London council lorry ban and, in particular, the number of exemption permits issued by the Greater London council.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Since the GLC had granted 20,000 permits and it appears refused none, information on effectiveness is difficult to come by. Londoners are benefiting from a 20 per cent. reduction in lorry movement as a result of the M25 bringing daytime as well as nighttime benefits.
