HC Deb 17 March 1986 vol 94 cc51-2W
Sir Dudley Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the efficacy to date of recall procedures for parallel imported medicines dispensed in the United Kingdom in the event of a product problem arising.

Mr. Hayhoe

I am not aware of any recall of a parallel imported medicinal product, therefore there is no basis on which to provide the assessment sought.

If it is found necessary to recall a product it is the responsibility of the licence holder to arrange this and the records kept by product licence holders and wholesale dealers' licence holders must be adequate for this purpose.

Deficiencies in those records could lead to the suspension or revocation of wholesale dealers' or product licences.
