§ Mr. NewtonI regret that a record is not kept of the number of claims where it takes longer than six months to pay mobility allowance. Virtually all claims are decided initially by the adjudicating officer on the basis of a report by an examining medical practitioner. The average time taken for a claimant who is successful at this stage to receive payment is currently nine and a half weeks.
