HC Deb 17 March 1986 vol 94 cc60-1W
Mr. Simon Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the total number of deaths resulting in whole or in part from drug abuse for each London borough for each year in which figures are available since the boroughs were created.

Mr. Whitney

The tables show the number of deaths from drug addiction (International Classification of Diseases (ICD) 7th revision 323, 8th and 9th revision 304) for usual residents of each London borough for 1965 to 1984, and the number of deaths from non-dependent abuse of drugs (excluding alcohol and tobacco) ICD (9) 305.2 to 305.9 (figures for which are not separately identifiable prior to 1979) for 1979 to 1984.
