§ Mr. Coombsasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will consider introducing regulations to impose maximum amounts of individual additives in food products in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. GummerThe Food Advisory Committee keeps the use of additives under review. The committee is currently considering a review of the colouring matter in food and one of the issues which it is addressing is whether there should be maximum permitted levels.
§ Mr. Coombsasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will arrange for a list of all the flavours currently used in the United Kingdom food supply to be placed in the Library, showing naturally derived, nature identical and synthetic flavours separately.
§ Mr. GummerNo such list is available but we are participating in discussions in the European Community, one purpose of which is to enable the European Commission to prepare a list of food flavours used in the Community.
