§ Mr. Ashleyasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will request the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals to provide him with information on the extent and nature of the provision that is made to meet the special needs of hearing-impaired students at the colleges and universities for which they are responsible.
§ Mr. WaldenProvision for the particular needs of hearing-impaired students has to be planned on an individual basis and the Government see this as the responsibility of the universities themselves. The Government would, however, encourage universities to consider carefully and sympathetically what provision they can make to ensure that well-qualified applicants with hearing impairment can benefit from a course of higher education.
