HC Deb 12 March 1986 vol 93 cc484-5W
Dr. Godman

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the introduction to date in the National Health Service in Scotland of a general management system consequent upon the Griffiths report.

Mr. John MacKay

All 15 health boards have general managers in post and the Common Services Agency is recruiting one. I expect to receive in April the study which has been commissioned as the basis for deciding how general management can best be developed in units. The Scottish Home and Health Department will undertake consultations between May and mid-July on a draft circular on the development of unit general management. Work is continuing on further aspects of general management within the Scottish Health Service.
