§ Mr. Chopeasked the Prime Minister, pursuant to the reply of 27 February, Official Report, columns 668–9, when she expects a legislative opportunity to become available to implement the Government's intentions to extend compulsory competition and separate accounting to a wider range of local authority purposes; and if she will make a statement.
§ The Prime MinisterI cannot anticipate the contents of future years' legislative programmes. However, the continuing low level of voluntary exposure of local authority services to competition reinforces this Government's determination to introduce appropriate legislation as soon as possible.
