HC Deb 12 March 1986 vol 93 cc462-3W
Mr. Corrie

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the basis for the claim by the chairman of the Nature Conservancy Council in the latest annual report that, in forestry management in the north of Scotland, planting grant is often not obtained or even sought.

Mrs. Rumbold

The NCC is aware of only two cases of planting without grant, both in southern Scotland. The chairman has apologised to me for the inaccuracy. A correction has appeared in the NCC publication "Topical Issues" and will be repeated in the next annual report.
