§ Mr. Giles Shaw[pursuant to his reply, 19 February, c. 178]: The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis tells me that he has set in hand a review to identify the most common reasons for premature retirement from the force. It is not possible to quantify their effect on police effectiveness.
