HC Deb 12 March 1986 vol 93 c515W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list any changes in the amounts and value of gold held under the control of the Tripartite Commission for the Restitution of Monetary Gold since May 1984.

Mr. Renton

There has been no change since May 1984 in the amount of gold held by the Tripartite Commission for the Restitution of Monetary Gold. The value of that gold has changed only in accordance with changes in world prices.

Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the current value of the 1949 International Court of Justice award of damagess in respect of the loss of two British naval vessels in the Corfu channel in 1946; and if the survivors or the families of those who lost their lives in the incident will receive any of the award when it is made.

Mr. Renton

The amount awarded by the International Court of Justice was £843,947. Compensation has already been given to those injured or bereaved in the incident in the form of disability and widow's pensions. They are unlikely to benefit further when the award is made.
