HC Deb 12 March 1986 vol 93 c473W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what consultations he has had with representatives of colleges or academies of music concerning any change in the current functions of each institution; with what purpose; and if he will make a statement.

Sir Keith Joseph

As I explained in my reply to my right hon. Friend the Member for Chelmsford (Mr. St. John-Stevas) on 24 February at columns 430–431, I have met the heads of the music colleges as part of consultations with a number of leading figures in the musical world about the training of talented musicians. In the course of these discussions proposals from the Royal Academy of Music for its future academic development and other possible proposals have been raised.
