HC Deb 12 March 1986 vol 93 c469W
Mr. Chris Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will indicate the nature and purpose of the closed circuit television equipment being purchased under a £500,000 contract with Philips Business Systems by the Metropolitan police; and where the equipment will be used.

Mr. Giles Shaw

I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that the contract is for a computerised control system for use with the existing closed circuit television cameras which monitor traffic in London. The new control equipment will be sited in Metropolitan police operations rooms at New Scotland Yard and in the traffic control room at county hall.
