Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the hon. Member for Berwick upon Tweed as representing the House of Commons Commission, how many (a) Clerks and (b) Officers of the House are in post; and how this compares with each of the past 30 years.

The table gives the information requested, as at five-yearly intervals. Clerks of the House are of course also Officers of the House and therefore the numbers in the second column include those in the first column.
