HC Deb 12 March 1986 vol 93 c461W
Mr. Cash

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will seek to amend planning law so that, in the light of current production levels of certain kinds of agricultural produce, some agricultural land may be made available for other uses.

Mr. Tracey

There is no provision in the Town and Country Planning Acts which specifically prevents agricultural land being developed. Individual development proposals must be considered on their merits, having regard to all material considerations.
