HL Deb 10 March 1986 vol 472 cc497-8WA
Lord Morris

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are now in a position to announce where the new Crown and County Court Centre in Reading is to be sited.

The Lord Chancellor (Lord Hailsham of Saint Marylebone)

Following a review of the requirements for criminal and civil courtrooms in Reading it is now intended that a modern Crown and County Court Centre, containing four Crown and two County courtrooms, should be established within the old Assize Court portion of the Shire Hall site, subject to the negotiation of acceptable terms for purchase of the site with Berkshire County Council.
