§ Mr. Adleyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to the statement by the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, the hon. Member for Mitcham and Morden (Mrs. Rumbold), about additional rate support grant, 5 March, Official Report, column 321, what estimate his Department has made of the amount by which the rate announced by Dorset county council could be reduced directly as a result of the additional funds now being made available to Dorset, assuming the same level of expenditure and the same utilisation of balances.
§ Mrs. RumboldDorset's share of the recycled grant is £6.409 million for 1986–87. This is equivalent to a rate poundage of 7p. The extent to which the council may be able to reduce its precept is dependent on the grant assumptions already made by the county.
