HC Deb 10 March 1986 vol 93 cc364-5W
Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if, in the light of the decision of Her Majesty's Government taken subsequent to the decision of the Joint Committee on the Okehampton Bypass Special Procedure Order to promote an Order Confirmation Bill to reverse the decision of the Joint Committee on that order, he will now reimburse the objectors to that order who petitioned against it in Parliament the costs they incurred in so doing, notwithstanding the fact that no application was made to the Joint Committee; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ridley

The objectors made no application to the joint committee, which had the power to award costs: I see no grounds for reopening the matter now.
