§ Mr. RifkindThe European Commission has informed us that it does not intend to propose a full extension of the integrated development programme (IDP) beyond May 1987. The Government agree that, in the light of progress already made, there is no need for a full-scale extension of the IDP. But we have asked the Commission to give some attention now to how some of the loose ends can best be tied up so that the IDP's significant achievements can be consolidated.
