§ Mr. Allen McKayasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the chief constable of South Yorkshire as to the number of people prosecuted in the last 12 months for which figures are available for the alleged illegal sale or renting of firearms.
§ Mr. Giles Shaw[pursuant to his reply, 14 February 1986, c. 565]: The chief constable of South Yorkshire informs me that there is an outstanding case in which one person has been charged with offences under section 3(1) of the Firearms Act 1968 and a second person has been charged with offences under section 3(2) of the Act. There have been no other prosecutions under section 3(1) or (2) in the last 12 months.
