§ Mr. GummerThe Commission's price fixing package for 1986 proposed a number of changes in the support arrangements for the beef sector. In the negotiations, my right hon. Friend will be concerned to ensure that beef producers continue to have adequate support. As to the beef variable premium scheme, we shall continue to maintain that this has advantages for producers, traders and consumers alike.
