HC Deb 04 March 1986 vol 93 c79W
Mr. Fatchett

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his answer of 30 January, Official Report, column 605, why Portsmouth was not listed among those authorities which have been sent copies of the list compiled by his Department's urban housing renewal unit of developers interested in refurbishing local authority housing estates for sale; and whether any other local authorities have been sent copies of this list who have not specifically requested copies of it.

Sir George Young

Portsmouth is one of four authorities which were inadvertently omitted from my answer of 30 January. The others are Cleethorpes, High Peak and Woking. They were sent the list because of their expressed interest in the possibility of private sector involvement in the redevelopment of estates, rather than in response to a specific request. Since 30 January, Dudley, Hillingdon, Preston and Sevenoaks have also been sent the list, at their request.
