HC Deb 04 March 1986 vol 93 cc113-4W
72. Mr. Pawsey

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science representations he has received on the size of the science budget for 1986–87.

Mr. Walden

My right hon. Friend has received 161 representations about the resources available for science; these generally relate to the Government's plans for science funding over a period rather than the budget for a specific year.

no current plans to reintroduce technical schools. The Government's policy, explained in the White Paper "Better Schools", is that the education of all pupils of compulsory school age should be broad and balanced and should contain a strong practical and technical element. The technical and vocational education initiative is exploring how such an element might best be developed for 14 to 18-year olds.
