To give the names and qualifications of the persons appointed to the Handsworth task force.

Mr. M. A. Tovey has recently been appointed leader of Handsworth task force. Mr. Tovey was born and educated in Birmingham and has spent the whole of his working life in the city, engaged on employment and training-related activities for the Department of Employment and, since 1974, for the Manpower Services Commission. He has been closely involved in the local delivery of various youth and adult training programmes in Birmingham and has recently held the posts of adult training manager in the MSC's Training Division, Birmingham Area Office and quality and operations manager for the Midlands Region. Mr. Tovey is, through his work, well known to many local community leaders, training providers, the local education authority and other government departments in Birmingham.

Other members of Mr. Tovey's team will be appointed shortly.
