§ Mr. Nellistasked the Prime Minister if, pursuant to her answer to the hon. Member for Birkenhead (Mr. Field), Official Report, 18 June, columns 546–7, she will list the Government's actions to encourage British companies with interests in South Africa to comply fully with the provisions of the European Economic Community code, with the date on which each action was initiated, and to which firm it was directed.
§ The Prime MinisterI refer the hon. Member to my reply to the hon. Member for Birkenhead (Mr. Field), on 24 June at column 89. Ministers and officials have had many contacts with the companies concerned, and the various organisations and trade associations of which they are members. One measure of the success of our efforts is that the number of firms who declined to submit returns for the last reporting period was reduced to only three, compared with 10 the previous year.
