§ Mr. Giles ShawMy right hon. Friend discussed these problems with chief constables when he visited the summer conference of the Association of Chief Police Officers at Torquay on 9–10 June. As he said on 3 June in reply to a 285W private notice question by my hon. Friend the Member for New Forest (Mr. McNair-Wilson) at columns 733–34, we are discussing with the police and others whether some further strengthening of the law is required and, if so, what form that change should take. We shall announce the outcome of these consultations as soon as possible.
