§ Mrs. Shieldsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prisoners released on licence from life sentences have been recalled to prison in each of the last five years; and what were the grounds of recall in each case.
§ Mr. MellorDuring the period 1981–85, 111 life licensees had their life licences revoked. Of these, 48 had committed a further offence and 21 were in breach of the conditions of their licence. The remaining 42 were recalled because they were regarded as a possible danger to the public. Further details are given in the following table.
