§ Mr. John PattenThe new model water byelaws are being published today by Her Majesty's Stationery Office on behalf of my Department, the Welsh Office and the Scottish development department. I am placing copies in the Library.
The new model will provide the basis for byelaws made by the 50 separate water undertakers in England, Wales and Scotland aimed at preventing waste, misuse and contamination in consumers' water installations. In conjunction with the Secretaries of State for Wales and Scotland I am consulting the water undertakers with a view to the introduction of new water byelaws based on the model in a co-ordinated national exercise during 1987.
