HC Deb 23 June 1986 vol 100 c52W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he had made of the percentage value added tax contribution which member states will be required to make to the European Economic Community in 1986; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Brooke

We estimate that the highest rate of VAT contribution for 1986 implied by the Council's Second Reading budget of last December is 1.22 per cent. The actual rates for the year will depend on the outcome of discussions on a new 1986 budget which will begin after the European Court has delivered judgment on the 1986 budget dispute.
