50. Mr. Leigh

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he is satisfied with the arrangements for the provision of disaster relief aid.

Mr. Raison

The ODA responds rapidly and effectively to requests for disaster relief throughout the world. The most recent recipients have been countries in Latin America, the Solomon Islands and Jamaica, where we have provided a total of £1.27 million.

I was honoured to receive recently a plaque from the Mexican Government in recognition of our urgent response to the Mexico City earthquake last September.
