§ 47. Mr. Livseyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what proportion of the aid budget is allocated for transporting food into recipient countries.
54W
§ Mr. RaisonWe do not make a separate allocation for these costs. In 1985 food aid accounted for 8 per cent. of total gross public expenditure on aid, but within that the transport element cannot be separately identified. A further £18 million was spent on the airlift of food in Ethiopia in 1985 and £6 million has been allocated this year on transporting food within Sudan.
