§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has any proposals for the introduction, within the National Health Service, of the Minnesota method of treating drug addiction; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WhitneyThe Department does not prescribe treatment approaches. It is for health authorities and practitioners in the field to decide whether the Minnesota method could be a useful approach in the treatment of drug misuse.
The Department is currently funding an evaluation of the treatment provided to National Health Service patients being referred to an establishment offering treatment based on the Minnesota philosophy.
