HC Deb 23 June 1986 vol 100 c17W
Mr. John Morris

asked the Attorney-General what action he proposes to take to give effect in United Kingdom law to the judgment of the European Court in the case involving the hon. Member for Peckham (Ms. Harman).

The Attorney-General

There is no judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in respect of the application brought by the honourable Member for Peckham. A friendly settlement, within the meaning of article 28(b) of the European Convention on Human Rights, has been reached between the parties, and the European Commission of Human Rights has recently adopted a report recording this solution. The Government are now considering how best to carry into effect the undertaking to seek to change the law given in those proceedings.
