HC Deb 19 June 1986 vol 99 cc596-7W
Dr. Godman

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list in the Official Report the number of patients on waiting lists for (a) urgent treatment and (b) non-urgent treatment on a health board basis for 1979 and each subsequent year.

Mr. John MacKay

Information distinguishing urgent and non-urgent cases is not held centrally. The numbers on waiting lists at 30 September in the years in question were as follows:

patients who no longer need treatment. Lists exclude altogether the significant numbers of patients who are admitted directly into hospitals without being at any stage included in waiting lists, that is, emergency cases.

Dr. Godman

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list in the Official Report, the average waiting time for (a) urgent treatment and (b) non-urgent treatment for each health authority for 1979 and each subsequent year.
