HL Deb 19 June 1986 vol 476 cc1157-8WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the latest available figure for visits by British ships to Soviet ports, given that the latest figure for visits by Soviet ships to British ports relates to 1985 and is over 1,600.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (The Earl of Caithness)

The information requested is not available. However, the UK vessel operating in the UK/USSR scheduled liner service makes some 25 to 30 visits annually. In addition there may be a limited number of calls made by British vessels to Soviet ports on anad hoc basis.
