Mr. John Mark Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will indicate and identify the number of hospitals in the west midlands health region which have been opened since 1979 and the number which have been closed.
§ Mr. WhitneyA significant number of new hospitals have opened in the west midlands region since 1979, often replacing units which have outgrown their usefulness. Not all of the information requested is available centrally, however, and my hon. Friend may care to write to the chairman of West Midlands regional health authority for a complete answer.
