§ Mrs. FennerThe pesticides safety precautions scheme (PSPS) requires manufacturers of substances which arc intended to be added to pesticides to submit them for pre-marketing scrutiny on the grounds that their properties may be of a nature that alters, to an unacceptable degree, the characteristics of the pesticide formulations to which they are added. This might he by facilitating absorption through human skin or by altering the uptake by crops and fate as residues in food. Clearance is not given if there is evidence of risk to human health from the recommended uses.
