HC Deb 16 June 1986 vol 99 cc418-9W
Mr. Adley

asked the Paymaster General what steps he is taking to encourage employment in the regions.

Mr. Lang

Our policies to bring about an enterprising competitive economy have led to the creation of nearly a million extra jobs throughout Great Britain since March 1983.

All regions will benefit from the new package of measures announced in the Budget to accelerate the growth of enterprise, boost opportunities for the young, and help the long-term unemployed find work. In addition, a pilot scheme of task forces has been set up in eight small inner city areas to develop new approaches to job creation and enterprise to benefit local residents.
