HC Deb 16 June 1986 vol 99 cc435-6W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what information he has as to how many qualified psychiatric nurses are employed by (a) the North Lincolnshire health authority, (b) the Lincolnshire county council social services department, (c) the Grimsby health authority and (d) the Humberside county council social services department.

Mr. Whitney

Information about staff employed by county council social service departments is not held by this Department. The hon. Member may therefore wish to contact the two local authorities concerned for the information requested at(b) and (d) of his question.

Specific qualifications in mental illness and mental handicap nursing cannot be identified centrally in respect of National Health Service employees. I suggest therefore that the hon. Member may wish to contact the chairmen of the two health authorities concerned direct for the information he seeks.

Numbers of all SR and SE nurses working in the specialties of mental illness and mental handicap in the two health authorities are given in the table. However, it should be noted that the latest available figures are as at 30 September 1984.
