§ 58. Mr. Cartwrightasked the Minister for the Arts what representations he has received concerning bans on the provision of News International newspapers in public libraries; and what action he proposes to take on such complaints.
466W
§ Mr. LuceI have received complaints that 15 library authorities have ceased to make News International newspapers available to the public. I have written to the authorities concerned to ask them whether the complaints are true and, if so, how they reconcile their action with their duties under the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964. I will consider what further action to take in the light of their replies.
