HC Deb 16 June 1986 vol 99 c386W
18. Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Energy when he last met the chairman of the Central Electricity Generating Board to discuss the ordering of new coal-fired power stations.

Mr. Goodlad

My right hon. Friend meets the chairman from time to time and they discuss a wide range of issues. The CEGB has stated that it does not intend to order any more stations, either coal-fired or nuclear, until it receives my right hon. Friend's decision on its application to construct a PWR station at Sizewell.

34. Mr. Frank Cook

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what steps he is taking to introduce a policy of total openness into the nuclear power industry.

Mr. Goodlad

The nuclear industry is already very open, and I am encouraging the maximum possible openness especially with regard to incidents with implications for the safety of the public or the work force.
