HC Deb 16 June 1986 vol 99 c406W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals he has received from the London Docklands Development Corporation concerning major new road construction in its area; and what are the estimated costs of each section of the proposed works.

Sir George Young

[pursuant to his reply, 9 June 1986, c. 19]: The London Docklands Development Corporation has put forward proposals for a new highways strategy, many parts of which are still under discussion. The proposals fall broadly into three groups, with these preliminary estimates of cost:

  1. a. an east-west route from Butcher Row to Silvertown Way—about £115 million;
  2. b. a continuation of that route from Silvertown Way to the future A13/South Woodford to Barking Relief Road Junction — about £65 million;
  3. c. various improvements in Southwark costing about £11 million.
