HC Deb 16 June 1986 vol 99 cc457-8W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many of the women awaiting in-patient gynaecological treatment in England are infertility cases.

Mr. Whitney

I am sorry I cannot give the hon. Member the information in precisely the form he seeks. In 1984, the latest year for which figures are available centrally, inpatient cases admitted from the waiting list and treated for female infertility represented an estimated 4.3 per cent. of all cases admitted from the waiting list and discharged from gynaecology departments during the year. On 30 September 1984 there were 91,680 women on in-patient waiting lists for gynaecology in England.
