In 1984, the latest year for which figures are available centrally, inpatient cases admitted from the waiting list and treated for female infertility represented an estimated 4.3 per cent. of all cases admitted from the waiting list and discharged458W from gynaecology departments during the year. On 30 September 1984 there were 91,680 women on in-patient waiting lists for gynaecology in England.
