HC Deb 12 June 1986 vol 99 cc264-5W
Mr. Michael Forsyth

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many cases of sudden death have occurred at the Royal Scottish national hospital at Larbert since 1976; and if he will give details of the circumstances.

Mr. John MacKay

I have no information as to which deaths in this period at the hospital might be regarded as "sudden". It is however standard practice at the hospital for sudden or unexpected deaths to be reported to the Mental Welfare Commission and the procurator fiscal. I have therefore asked the health board how many reports were made to the procurator fiscal and shall write to my hon. Friend as soon as possible.
